’Policy Expert is a business with strong momentum, a clear customer focus and a technology underpinned model,’ says new chief growth officer

Policy Expert has appointed former Allianz executive Graham Wright to the newly created role of chief growth officer.

A qualified actuary, Wright brings more than two decades of experience across underwriting, pricing, broking, consultancy and retail distribution.

He joins from Allianz UK, where he served as managing director for home and interim managing director for UK Personal Broker, overseeing major personal lines portfolios across home, motor and broker channels.

At Policy Expert, he will take strategic responsibility for a range of trading and insurance functions, helping guide the insurer’s growth strategy while maintaining underwriting discipline.

His appointment forms part of a broader reshaping of Policy Expert’s growth function, which will now incorporate trading responsibilities alongside underwriting and pricing oversight.

Wright said: “Policy Expert is a business with strong momentum, a clear customer focus and a technology-underpinned model that gives it a stand-out proposition in the personal lines market.

“I’m delighted to be joining the team and look forward to supporting the next phase of growth.”

Leadership changes

The appointment follows the arrival of Richard Kirby as chief operating officer in March and retirement of chief underwriting officer David Prior after almost 14 years with the business.

Policy Expert reported revenue of £210.3m for the year ending 31 December, representing growth of 2.7% year-on-year. Its home insurance portfolio remains its largest business line, with more than 1.4 million active policies and £350m in gross written premium.

Chief executive Steve Hardy said Wright would bring significant technical expertise and a fresh perspective to the business.

“Wright has an impressive depth of experience in underwriting and pricing in personal lines and will bring a new perspective, technical expertise and actuarial discipline,” he said.
