The appointee ’will be a great addition to our UK and Lloyd’s business unit,’ says chief underwriting officer
Axa XL, the property, casualty and specialty risk arm of Axa, has appointed David Jones as its new retail chief underwriting officer for the UK and Lloyd’s.

The appointee has over 20 years of insurance sector experience and joins Axa XL from QBE Insurance, where he is currently director of underwriting for property and packaged business.
Prior to his current role, he was also head of London market for QBE Europe. He also joined QBE from Aviva, having started his career with Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group.
Jones will take up his role in Spring 2026 and be based in London.
In March this year, Axa XL shook up its UK and Lloyd’s specialty leadership team, with Louise Nevill appointed chief underwriting officer for specialty and Sundeep Khera appointed head of marine and energy.
Also in March, the insurer announced the appointment of a new UK head of broker management and alternative distribution.
