Hot on the heels of revealing its Destination Insurance talent charter for UKGI earlier this week, Insurance Times has launched its second talent development survey, which will underpin the publication of a new report this year
Insurance Times has launched its annual talent development survey this month (October 2025), to collate feedback from the UK general insurance (UKGI) market on evolving workforce trends and talent considerations.
As the UKGI sector undergoes rapid digital transformation and faces growing governmental and regulatory pressure to innovate, the need to invest in people has never been more critical.
Therefore, Insurance Times’ talent development survey has been designed to explore how insurance organisations are attracting and retaining young talent, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in workforce development and which skills are set to grow in importance over the coming years.
Key areas of focus within this year’s survey include:
- How the insurance industry can better engage the next generation of professionals.
- The barriers organisations face when seeking to attract young talent.
- Strategies for upskilling teams on emerging technologies, like AI.
- How firms are retaining and developing staff.
- The future skills landscape and what capabilities will define success.
The findings from the talent development survey will be used to create an exclusive report, which will be available this year. This aims to offer actionable insights and benchmarking data to help businesses shape effective talent strategies.
Savan Shah, head of research at Insurance Times, said: “Talent is the backbone of our industry. Through this survey, we aim to uncover best practices for attracting and nurturing young professionals, while enhancing the insurance sector’s reputation as a dynamic and rewarding career destination. By gathering insights directly from industry leaders, we hope to spotlight the strategies that will shape a future-ready workforce.”
Destination Insurance
The launch of this year’s talent developent survey coincides with the big reveal of Insurance Times’ Destination Insurance campaign.
Including a talent charter for small to medium-sized firms and trade bodies operating in the UKGI marketplace and an inaugural talent-centric conference in London in January 2026, Destination Insurance aims to provide an inclusive forum for collaboration, bringing the UKGI sector together to talk about talent and mitigate the consistent workforce challenges experienced by market firms.
Insurance Times editor Katie Scott said: ”Destination Insurance is an important editorially driven campaign that aims to be the mutual platform for talent-centric collaboration and best practice in UKGI. We have listened to reader feedback and have heard market firms constantly ask for a better route to develop partnerships and ideas that help to mitigate the industry’s talent related concerns. Destination Insurance is here to answer that call to action.
”Our campaign strives to bring the market together to address talent challenges collaboratively, rather than in organisational or subsector siloes. Insurance Times is open to feedback on the campaign so far, as well as possible future developments. Let’s work together and really put insurance on the map as a career destination.”
