JMG Group appoints new managing director for its Chester-based broker

JMG Group has appointed Ian Muldowney as managing director of its Chester-based broker, Grosvenor Insurance, as it looks to accelerate growth in the Cheshire market.

Muldowney brings more than 20 years of insurance experience to the role, having held a range of senior broking positions with expertise spanning professional indemnity, cyber and financial lines insurance.

In his new role, he will focus on both organic and acquisitive growth opportunities across Cheshire, while continuing to develop Grosvenor’s specialist capabilities.

The broker said particular attention will be given to strengthening its equine and agricultural propositions, areas in which the business has already built expertise.

Alongside growth ambitions, Muldowney will also focus on attracting new talent and supporting the development of existing employees.

He said: “The dream and vision that JMG Group and Grosvenor have for the area really struck a chord with me and it was something that I wanted to be part of.

‘Energy and ambition’

He joins Grosvenor at a key stage in the broker’s development following its acquisition by JMG Group in October 2024.

Founded in 2013 by Andy Piggott and Phil Beesley, Grosvenor has established a strong presence in the region, providing specialist insurance solutions for both commercial and private clients. Piggott remains actively involved in the business in a client-focused role.
